Peter Harald Cota-Robles, 59 ENCINITAS -- Peter Harald Cota-Robles died Monday, August 22, 2011, after a courageous battle with myocarditis. Peter was born January 27, 1952 in Helsingfors, Finland. He is survived by his son, Vincent Hubner of Germany; as well as his parents, Gun and Eugene Cota-Robles of Naperville, Ill.; his brother, Erik Cota-Robles of Mountain View, Calif.; and his sister, Feliciana Farran (Jerry) of Naperville, Ill. Peter is also survived by his love, Bevin Keen of San Diego, who valiantly remained by his side during his illness; nephews and nieces, Carl Cota-Robles, Maria Cota-Robles, Karin Cota-Robles, Tom Farran and Sam Farran. Peter was loved and admired by his many family and friends in Encinitas, Santa Cruz, Germany and Finland. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harald and Kallis Engberg; as well as his beloved dog, Boojum. Peter graduated in 1974 from the University of California, Riverside with a degree in Mathematics, and went on to lead a successful career most recently as Director of Engineering Services for the City of Encinitas. He was previously an engineer for Santa Cruz County. Peter had a truly adventurous spirit. He sailed extensively along the West Coast from Washington State to California. In 2009, he climbed Mt. Aconcaqua, the tallest mountain in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres. He was an avid runner having completed several half marathons within the last few years. He also enjoyed time spent on his Harley in the company of his friends. Peter's travels took him on a variety of adventures ranging from Alaska to South Africa and many points in between. The Cota-Robles Family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Sharp Memorial Hospital for their skilled care and support. A Memorial Service, celebrating Peter's life, will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 1 pm at the Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, Calif. 92024- 4000.
